Description

Description

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Acros Organics product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Acros Organics product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

General Description

  • The deoxycholic acid sodium salt is a bile acid choleretic and anionic detergent that allows the solubilization of fats for intestinal absorption
  • The compound is an intermediate in the production of corticosteroids
  • In animal models it has been shown that this compound can promote tyrosine phosphorylation of β-catenin and its translocation to the nucleus, promoting the activation of β-catenin signaling

Applications

  • Deoxycholic acid is mainly useful for the extraction of membrane receptors, other plasma membrane proteins, nuclei isolation, solubilization and isolation of fats, and some components of biological membranes (in an active state)
  • It has been used for chemical applications, mainly for the elution or regeneration of specific types of affinity columns. Furthermore, this compound can be used to prevent non-specific binding in affinity chromatography.
  • It has been applied in the preparation of protein extracts for immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation of radiolabeled proteins
  • Deoxycholic acid, sodium salt is also recommended for stripping endotoxins
